Our instructors will show you what you need to know to begin exploring the back country. We will review planning and preparation, what to pack, skinning, track setting, uphill and downhill techniques, and some basic group management. NOTE: This class is NOT an avalanche class and it is strongly recommended that you complete a level 1 avalanche class before recreating in the back country.
This free course offers basic information to the aspiring backcountry enthusiast.
The level one course is a 3 day/24 hour introduction to avalanche hazard management.
The level 2 course is a 4-day program that provides backcountry leaders the opportunity to advance their avalanche knowledge and decision making skills.
The Level 3 course is an advanced certification course for experienced and professional avalanche practitioners, professional guides, patrollers and advanced recreational backcountry travelers.
